I love custard tarts but I hate how hard it is to reheat them. I tried three methods to see if any worked better than the others. 1 Microwave: This was my least favorite method because the custard didn’t get hot enough and the pastry got soggy. 2 Oven: This was my second least favorite method because the pastry was dry and the custard wasn’t warm enough. 3 Instant Pot: This was my favorite method because the pastry stayed soft and the custard was perfect!
A note on my experiment
I used a 2 quart instant pot for this recipe. I cooked the custard in the pot for 3 minutes and added the pastry. I put the lid on and set the timer for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes I removed the lid and let the custard cool down while I preheated the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. I baked the tart for 10 minutes and then took it out of the oven. It was still very moist and delicious.
